2009

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2009 7:40 AM
Calvin woke up at 6:30 today. We just finished story time.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2009 8:21 AM
Calvin ate over 2 tbs of pears this morning. I think that’s the best he has done.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2009 12:36 PM
Just got home from church. We had to leave early because Calvin was cranky but he woke up as soon as we got home.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2009 4:20 PM
Calvin is being really high maintenance today so @calvinsdad took Calvin for a bit so I could have a nap.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2009 6:56 PM
Note to future self: don’t allow trick or treaters with a small baby.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2009 7:05 PM
Calvin starts screaming as soon the children start speaking (the doorbell seems fine). Not sure why it scares him so much.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2009 7:06 PM
Calvinsdad has taken him up to his bedroom to finish his nighttime routine.

2011

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2011 1:33 PM
Well, there went Calvin’s budget for the month. I’m buying him “culture” (i.e. symphony tickets). You may laugh now.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2011 7:57 PM
The little containers of Play-Doh I handed out this year, in addition to candy, were a big hit. Need to get more next year.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2011 8:29 PM
From daycare, “Calvin enjoyed reading Halloween books.”

2012

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2012 8:02 PM
We’re up to 5 trick-or-treaters. At Monarch we would have almost been out of candy by now.

2014

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2014 7:31 AM
It appears Calvin has decided to dress up as a construction worker manager for halloween.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2014 7:31 AM
He is insisting on wearing his Friday dress clothes underneath the construction worker vest.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2014 5:44 PM
Calvin gets concerned when he thinks people think he really is a construction worker. He also makes sure they know it’s just pretend.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2014 7:06 PM
We’re up to 4 kids trick-or-treating. (Our Longmont neighborhood was a lot more fun.)

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2014 8:03 PM
I am afraid we have way too much candy left over but the non-candy items did pretty well.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2014 8:03 PM
I only bought candy I like and, in retrospect, maybe I should have only bought candy I don’t like.

2015

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2015 7:37 AM
Yeah, I don’t think an apartment is going to be good for us. Julian will have us kicked out in less than a week.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2015 7:38 AM
I’m not sure I have ear drums left.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2015 8:47 AM
Do I care that Julian is cruising in his crib instead of napping if he’s not crying?

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2015 9:14 AM
Well, I was thinking of going to church today but given how Julian’s nap is going that seems less likely.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2015 1:15 PM
Crib lowered again. We have one more slot left to go.

2016

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2016 7:43 PM
Apparently Julian is old enough to have figured out that Calvin is being given candy and he isn’t.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2016 10:36 PM
I’ve become cardigan lady.

2018

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2018 5:20 PM
Calvin as a mad scientist.

Calvin is dressed up as a mad scientist with a white lab coat pouring an unknown substance from one beaker to another while wearing protective eyewear.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2018 6:03 PM
Julian being offered a second piece of candy while trick or treating, “no thanks!” (Polite but obviously has a lot to learn about the true meaning of Halloween.)

2019

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2019 7:21 PM
We got one trick or treat group so far this year which is putting us ahead of SF, even with Boulder, and behind Ballard and Longmont. In our next house I want to live on a trick or treater street.

@calvinsdad We should ask for Halloween information in the disclosures.

(Also I wonder if we’d get more traffic with a big front-yard Halloween display.)

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2019 7:23 PM
That’s a good thought. Maybe something to consider next year if we’re not to overwhelmed by change.

2021

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2021 9:10 PM
Well, that was an experience. Only about 1/3 of the lights were on in our neighborhood but there also weren’t a ton of kids so the houses we stopped at were desperate to get rid of their candy.

One person was literally shoving handfuls into the kid’s bags.

2022

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Oct 31, 2022 8:33 AM
I’m commuting to work for the first time since March 2020. I decided to drive to BART and take it in so I didn’t have to deal with downtown. I got one of the new trains which is very nice.
