Calvin was pretty cranky much of today. Maybe he’s in a growth spurt he also ate an amazing amount of food.

I’m not feeling particularly good but I can’t tell if I’m hungry, tired, or sick.

Calvin is in his highchair tearfully asking for “in.” It took me a while this refers to the Lasagne I was packing for his lunch.

I think I’m going to end the January pay period with money still in my grocery budget account!

Calvin is having a lot of fun playing in a large box. He has insisted I tape shut the opening.

Calvin is wandering around with @calvinsdad’s gloves on his hands. They look like claws.

From daycare, “Calvin enjoyed listening to Ms. Beth’s story.”
2016

Calvin (in green) is climbing!

Calvin drew a Venn diagram just because. This is pirates, on the left, and navy, on the right.
Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Feb 7, 2016 7:15 PM
Pirates: steells tresher, skull and crossbone flag. Navy: hants pirates, deffent flag. Both: has ships, hav canons.

I just caught Calvin trying to read by his night light.
2021

It seems like mom groups are awash with forwarding articles about parenting inequality, etc (see https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2021-02-07/covid-pandemic-unemployment-gender-gap-fairness-in-childcare-housekeeping and https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/14/parenting/working-moms-job-loss-coronavirus.html for examples). Are men reading these articles also? Or are their eyes just glazing over?
Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Feb 7, 2021 9:11 AM
I want to be clear that I have it reasonably good at the moment. However, it’s infuriating to watch so many women drowning and fear that could be me again someday.
Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Feb 7, 2021 9:11 AM
On the moms group I belong to it’s really common for moms to post about how they’re falling apart (full-time working moms, stay-at-home moms, and everyone in between). However, every woman knows she can’t force her partner to help more.
Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Feb 7, 2021 9:11 AM
As a result, the common advice on the mom’s group is to hire outside “help” if you can afford it (and so many people can’t). I think this pandemic shows outsourcing so much is not a good solution. It’s too unstable and relies on too many external factors.

(Plus, managing people is exhausting in the best of times!)
Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Feb 7, 2021 9:11 AM
What I would like to see is article from men talking about 1) recognizing there was a problem in their household and 2) how they rectified the problem without adding additional work on to their partner.
Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Feb 7, 2021 9:11 AM
Then, all male partners need to read and discuss these articles among themselves and critically evaluate their own lives.
