Calvin got up at 2 and then 7 last night. Not bad.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2009 9:34 AM
I’ve eaten breakfast, exercise, and showered all before 9:30 AM. I think this might be a first since Calvin was born.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2009 9:44 AM
Calvin is currently engaged in tummy time.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2009 9:46 AM
It’s hard to tell when Calvin is actually upset or just working hard at rolling over, etc.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2009 10:30 AM
(I mean, learning to roll over. He isn’t actually doing it yet.)

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2009 10:40 AM
Calvin still appears to be a fan of Bach.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2009 1:38 10:40 AM
Maybe I should hunt down some Bach recordings to play for him. Though, he didn’t seem very fond of the Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2009 1:38 PM
Calvin has this distressing habit of waking up from naps and being hungry RIGHT NOW.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2009 4:03 PM
Our local Walgreens rents both baby scales and breast pumps. Who knew?

2010

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2010 8:30 AM
Calvin has been in a really bad mood ever since he saw the crackers I’m packing for snack.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2010 5:08 PM
Calvin really likes Mung Beans & Rice.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2010 6:37 PM
Calvin prefers to eat his applesauce with 2 spoons.

2011

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2011 3:01 PM
Calvin is insisting on putting 2 pairs of underwear on.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2011 3:02 PM
Nevermind. Now he’s up to 3 pairs.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2011 3:05 PM
Ok, now he has added pants. I wonder if he’s planning to run away from home dressed in his entire wardrobe.

2012

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2012 5:26 PM
Colors are starting to be painted on the wall. I’m very excited! :)

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2012 5:30 PM
I love our new house. Calvin has completely forgotten that we brought a DVD home from the library and is playing in the backyard.

2015

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2015 1:44 PM
Julian is 5042 grams.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2015 4:09 PM
Calvin and Nana are playing a very creative version of tic tac toe.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2015 10:43 PM
My body seems to be under the erroneous impression that I did not eat supper and a significant after-supper snack.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2015 10:52 PM
Dear rain, I love you but why do you have a vendetta against our basement?

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2015 10:53 PM
Also, since I’m going to bed so late Julian is going to give me 1 hr of sleep and then demand attention the rest of the night.

The basil survived the winter. Can it learn to live outside again?
A large rectangular planter in a back yard. The planter contains chives and columnar basil.

The kids are quiet in a reading cave. 😍

I have been offered (and accepted) a job in Seattle. So, the question becomes, “why Seattle”? For me, it boils down to a more balanced life. Being able to wake up later, more flexibility with my day, having family within a 2 hr drive.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2018 7:35 AM
I’ve never lived in Seattle so I’m leery of making grand statements about how great it will be. However, here’s my dream of what life in Seattle might include:
* Both of us living reasonably close to work.
* Knowing exactly where our children will go to school

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2018 7:35 AM
* Working in the same city that my kids are in and being able to get pick them up within 1/2 hr of being called.
* Being able to drop the kids at Grandma’s house and get extended alone time with
@calvinsdad.
* Taking the kids bike riding on the Burke-Gilman trail.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2018 7:35 AM
* Taking the kids to see the Ballard Locks
* Snow (ice?) in winter!
* Olympic National Park (temperate rainforest!!)
* Seeing Mt Rainier
* Seattle Central Library (this one feels like cheating but it’s a marvelous building)

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2018 7:35 AM
* Pioneer Square
* Closer proximity to Canada (never hurts to have a backup plan ;) )
(More later but I’m about to lose internet access.)

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2018 7:38 AM
* Coffee (Not drinking coffee, I tend to forget this one but I think it’s reasonable to expect truly fantastic coffee is available in Seattle.)

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2018 5:03 PM
Mount Baker Ski area (since we’re dreaming, I’m going to dream the drive there is nothing like the drive to Tahoe) – 5th graders get free admission

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2018 5:17 PM
Strawberries!!! Nobody does berries better than the Washington and Oregon.

Ted “Theodore” Logan @calvinsdad May 8, 2018 6:09 PM
Mt Baker looks small and far away, surely there’s something bigger and closer?

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2018 6:25 PM
Well, I’m not a skier so I can’t really offer a good opinion. The book I was reading is geared for children. It said it’s 2 1/2 hrs away from Seattle.

2019

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 8, 2019 8:45 PM
Julian is still running a fever :( I don’t remember either kid running a fever this long before. We used up a brand new bottle of ibuprofen. (I’m not giving it to him just to treat the fever, he’s miserable without it.)

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 9, 2019 5:52 PM PM
Julian is _finally_ better. That certainly took longer than I was expecting. However, just in time to go on the church camp out with my parents.

The Solar House is pending :( It was completely to be expected but I really wanted this house to stick around long enough for us to try to get it. It’s not often a house goes for sale that has a book written about it.

It’s this book: https://amazon.com/Solar-House-Terry-Galloway-ebook-dp-B0084BPK8Y/dp/B0084BPK8Y/ Among other things, the house has (or had an one point) a touchscreen CRT (old-style computer monitor) to control the various systems.
