2009

I’m up for the day but Calvin is still sleeping (for the moment). I’m grabbing a quick breakfast.

Calvin’s still not up.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 28, 2009 10:00 AM
Calvin is holding his rattle and moving it around (of course, he doesn’t realize what he’s doing).

Calvin’s off at daycare again. Apparently he likes the blue swing which is amazing since he screams anytime we try to use our swing.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 28, 2009 11:36 AM
Ah, it turns out that our swing will lay back too. I wonder if Calvin would like that better.

I’ve decided to start work as soon as I drop Calvin off from daycare so I don’t have awkward time periods to do other stuff in.

Sometimes I miss having my physical manuals available.

Calvin’s back home :)

From daycare: “Calvin really enjoyed exploring with paint in a plastic bag today!”

Calvin woke up very cranky this morning :(

Out on the beach for the last time this trip.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 28, 2011 3:02 PM
We’ve arrived back at the Stone Estate. Calvin really enjoyed his beach experience.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 28, 2011 6:56 PM
Calvin: ‘Chalk daddy! Chalk daddy!’ when asking to speak on the phone.

@calvinsdad Congratulations :)

2013

It’s amazing how long it takes me to do easy chores when I don’t have to cram them in between other things.

Cat5 does not appear to be doing well at the moment.

We have a new stroller! Crossing my fingers this one actually works well for Muni.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 28, 2017 3:41 PM
Tomorrow I’m going to do a test summer camp drop-off/pick-up for Calvin with Julian in the stroller and we’ll see how it performs.

Calvin’s school at home experience continues to evolve. I’m not exactly sure how successful we are but he is learning things, albeit not necessarily the same stuff he would in normal school.

White board with writing on it. On the left side, in green, it says: 9:00 - School, 11:30 - exercise, 12:00 - lunch/break, 1:00 school, 3:00 free time. On the right side, in blue, it says school: 1) review daily assignment page, 2) journal 15 minutes, 3) class meeting if relevant, 4) reading 30 minutes, 5) 15 min Khan math 6) chat questions 7) school assignment or self-directed education.

I’ve decided to do some level of assigned reading. I’m not worried about his reading ability but he doesn’t try stretching himself very much.

Currently, I’m having him read the retelling of Beowulf, by Robert Nye (https://seattle.bibliocommons.com/item/show/2815976030), and then I’m going to have him listen to the Heaney translation.

Calvin’s new hobby is being as contrary as possible with the math problems he’s given. Yesterday he spent a fair amount of time looking up the recommended number of chlorine tablets for various pool sizes.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom May 28, 2020 11:33 AM
Now he’s trying to reverse engineer the type of car “Patricia” is driving based on her kilometers per liter number.

Seattle will forever leave me confused as to how Julian’s middle name is spelled. I just had to look it up . . .
