I sincerely doubt stopping au pairs from coming into the US is going to significantly add new jobs for US citizens. Instead, I suspect that this will keep more professional women out of the work force. (So, maybe more jobs become available for men?)

Our new house has a fancy dishwasher that @calvinsdad hates because the dishes need to be loaded in a completely different manner than our previous dishwashers. However, I’m fascinated because it has a salt dispenser for hard water.

[When asked what the salt does in the dishwasher and if you could use regular table salt.]

Apparently dishwasher salt can trap the magnesium and calcium. Not sure if you can use it with a dishwasher that doesn’t have a container for it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dishwasher_salt

We’ve only had couple cycles but I think the glasses are looking better.

Today, Julian had two accidents (one is very uncommon) so we drove home with him naked only to discover we’d misplaced the key. I climbed a ladder, jimmied a screen out of the small bathroom window, and crawled in. We are having adventures.

I made a face mask for Calvin and then he decorated it.
Simple gray cloth face mask with exuberant marker drawings. In the upper left corner in black marker it says Gas Mask Company. There are a lot of vibrant drawings, though it's a little hard to tell what they are. There's what may be a mask, or maybe teeth, in the middle in purple. There's fire-like red and oranges around the border, and some brown drawings also.

Julian informs me that we put his clothes in the wrong drawer at the last house. I have now been instructed on the correct way to do it. (Shirts in the top drawer, underwear and shorts in the middle, and pants and socks in the bottom.)

I now have reading glasses and I think it’s going to take me a while to get use to them. Turns out I had a habit of leaning forward and squinting at my screen, which I didn’t realize till just now. (I knew I needed glasses, just wasn’t aware of my habit.)

BTW, if you’re wearing both a mask and glasses, make sure your mask conforms to your nose. Otherwise, your glasses will fog up. (@SuzanTLogan figured out that the metal ties on the top of coffee bags work beautifully in cloth masks.)

I took his temp when I got home, he hadn’t had any medicine, and it was 99.3. I repeated just to make sure. He also threw up exactly once, right after lunch, and has been fine since. I don’t think he’s sick.
