Calvin is fascinated by his _Potty Time with Elmo_ book (the book has buttons he can push to make it talk).

Calvin seems very attached to daddy today. He keeps crawling away from me and getting in @calvinsdad’s way.

Daycare has a little play kitchen. Ms. Amy says Calvin loves opening the cupboard door and trying to climb in.

From daycare: “Calvin likes to hold his own spoon :) ”

Getting ready to leave for Calvin’s (or more precisely, my) first play date.

After spending way too long researching, I’m almost ready to commit to a Dell Vostro All-In-One for my kitchen computer.

[This computer is still in our house so relatively speaking maybe I didn’t spend too much time obsessing. (That said, it’s only used now when I have Windows specific things I need to do.)]

We had a plucky mint plant that was trying to grow, even in the dark garage, so I put it outside. It snowed this morning.

From daycare: “Calvin enjoyed a performance by singer/storyteller Beth Epley this morning.”

I have a new phone provider and my number transferred ok!

Calvin looks like a little Dracula with very dark chocolate running down from the corners of his mouth.

From daycare yesterday, “Calvin enjoyed painting with corn syrup this morning!”

The war is ongoing but I definitely won the mint battle today. Dug up most of one of our flower beds to start getting rid of it.

I’m blanking on what to pack in Calvin’s lunch today. Hopefully he ends up with food.

I need _On Food and Cooking_ expanded to cover GF substitutes.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Apr 14, 2016 11:13 AM
The internet does a reasonable job of telling me what I can substitute but doesn’t usually explain why very well without a lot more poking.

I’m always bemused when men go out of their way to offer to carry “heavy” things for me that weigh less than my children do. No one ever offers to carry my children for me.

[There was some follow-up Twitter conversation about whether I’d be willing to hand my kids over to as stranger to carry and, to be fair, I would not. It’s really more an underlying annoyance with our society teaching men that women need help carrying heavy things but need only minimal caregiving support. (I do think this is changing. Slowly.)]

I’ve always wanted to have a hammock. When I decided to splurge and buy one, I found a used IKEA one on Craigslist because I was scared it would be one of those things one uses for two weeks and then it just takes up space.

More than two years later and I still love having a hammock.

Kiesa @spreadsheetmom Apr 14, 2020 5:57 PM
Though currently Calvin is taking up more than his fair share. He reports that he’s trying to hibernate until COVID-19 is resolved.

Picture taken from one end of a hammock. The picture shows feet and Calvin, almost completely hidden by a blue blanket, on the other end of the hammock.
